Reliability

What happens if the internet drops mid-rush.

The TV keeps the last board on screen, says it is reconnecting, and picks back up on its own when the connection returns. Here is exactly what to expect, and what to do if a screen does not come back.

A paired TV during a dropped connection. The last board stays up, and this notice sits at the top until it reconnects.

The board stays upA paired TV keeps showing its last confirmed board while it reconnects.

When the connection drops

The TV handles short outages by itself.

Wi-Fi hiccups and router restarts are the common case, so the board is built to ride them out without anyone behind the counter touching it.

What the TV does on its own
  • Keeps the last board on screen and shows a reconnecting or offline notice, so nobody mistakes a stale screen for a live one.
  • Retries the connection automatically, waiting a little longer between each try.
  • Sends a screen heartbeat to your dashboard, so you can see whether each screen has checked in.
  • Picks up where it left off once the network is back.
What waits until it is back
  • New orders and Ready taps cannot reach the screen while it is offline.
  • A TV that lost power or had its browser closed has to be reopened. The device setup guide shows how to make each screen type come back on its own.
  • A screen that stays stuck after the Wi-Fi returns needs a local check, or an email.

If a screen is not coming back

Three things to do, in order.

1. Check the Wi-Fi first

Confirm the screen still has internet. If the browser was closed, reopen the Pickup Signal TV page.

Open device setup →

2. Note what it says

Your shop name, which screen (TV, staff page, or dashboard), and the words on it. Do not send customer order details.

Behind the scenes

What is checked, and what is not promised.

Automated checks load the parts of Pickup Signal a shop actually uses, from sign-in to the counter, and confirm each one answers correctly. A failed check alerts Tien.

Getting in

The Pickup Signal homepage and owner app, so you can always reach your dashboard.

Orders

The production API health endpoint, the service that moves orders onto the board, checked on its own.

The counter

The TV setup page and staff page, the two screens a shop uses during a shift.

This page describes behavior. It is not a live status page and not an incident history, and it does not report whether Pickup Signal is up right now. These checks do not prove that every customer screen, register connection, or individual order is healthy. There is no published uptime history, and Pickup Signal does not currently offer a service level agreement or an uptime guarantee. The service is provided as-available, as described in the Terms of Service.

Set the screen up to come back on its own.

The device guide covers TVs, streaming sticks, iPads, and Android tablets, including how to reopen the board after a power cut. Thirty days free, no card.
