The useful questions are operational: what changes, what does not, what customers see, and what happens if the shop stops using it.
Does Pickup Signal replace my register or kitchen display?
No. Pickup Signal is the customer-facing pickup layer. Payments, refunds, menu management, and kitchen production stay in the systems you already use.
Do I need Square?
No. Eligible Square orders can arrive automatically. Shops using another register can choose fast manual entry by customer name, existing ticket number, or an automatic daily number.
What does Pickup Signal cost?
$19.99 per month per location after a 30-day free trial. No credit card is required to start, and customer screens at the same location are included.
When does the trial begin?
The 30-day trial begins when the first screen is paired—not when the account is created. That keeps setup errands from consuming the time meant for evaluating the product.
Do I need to buy a screen?
No dedicated screen is required. Use a browser-equipped TV, a TV with a browser streaming stick, an iPad, or an Android tablet. Check the device setup guide before buying anything.
What do customers see?
The shop chooses names, order numbers, or a number-only workflow. A name can appear as first name and last initial. Pickup Signal does not put the customer’s address or phone number on the public board.
What if staff forget to mark an order Ready?
The order remains shown as being made. Pickup Signal does not invent a Ready state or silently promise completion when staff or the connected order source has not supplied it.
Does canceling Pickup Signal cancel or refund register orders?
No. Canceling Pickup Signal turns off the customer board subscription. It does not change payments, refunds, menus, or orders in the connected register.
Is Pickup Signal only for drink shops?
No. It is for made-to-order counters with a visible pickup problem: coffee, bakery, boba, smoothie, dessert, and adjacent fast-casual workflows.
