1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Pickup Signal — the dashboard, onboarding, pickup board, and staff pages reachable from pickupsignal.com — operated by Pickup Signal ("we," "us"). By creating an account or using the service, the business creating that account ("you," "your shop") agrees to these Terms.
These Terms are an agreement between Pickup Signal and your shop. They are not an agreement with your shop's customers — the people who order a drink at your counter never create a Pickup Signal account and are never asked to agree to anything here. What we do with their information is described in our Privacy Policy, not this document.
2. What Pickup Signal is (and isn't)
Pickup Signal shows your shop's own order queue — names, order numbers, and status — on a screen near pickup, and gives your staff a simple way to mark drinks ready. It is a display layer that sits beside your register, not a replacement for it.
- Pickup Signal is not a point-of-sale system or a kitchen display system.
- Pickup Signal is not a payment processor. We do not process, store, or have access to your customers' payment card numbers at any point.
- Pickup Signal reads your orders from Square or Clover, using a read-only connection, or from what your staff type in directly if you don't connect a point of sale.
3. Your account
You need an account to use Pickup Signal, created with an email and password or through Google or Apple sign-in. You're responsible for keeping your login, any staff invite links, and any TV pairing codes confidential, and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away at hello@pickupsignal.com if you believe your account or a paired device has been compromised.
4. Free trial, pricing, and billing
- Pickup Signal is billed at $19.99 per month, per location, through our payment processor, Stripe.
- New accounts get a 30-day free trial. No credit card is required to start it. The trial runs once per account — adding another location later doesn't start a new one.
- Once a payment method is on file, the subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you've already paid for — the board keeps running until then, and you aren't charged again.
- Prices are in US dollars and don't include any taxes we may be required to collect.
- If you haven't added a payment method by the end of the trial — or a later payment fails and isn't resolved — your account is paused, not canceled. Your board and TVs stop showing live orders, but your shop's setup and point-of-sale connection are kept. Adding or fixing a payment method resumes the same subscription where it left off.
- We don't put billing problems on the screen above your counter. Owners and staff see a private notice with a link to fix payment; a paused TV shows a neutral, branded message with no billing detail on it.
- We may change prices on notice for future billing periods; a change won't apply retroactively to a period you've already paid for.
5. Your Square or Clover connection
Orders can also reach the board without a point-of-sale connection: staff type them in, or your own website, kiosk, or automation sends them through the integration API with a key from your dashboard. Those orders come from you, under these Terms, and you're responsible for what you send and for keeping that key private.
Connecting your point of sale — Square or Clover — is optional, and useful — most shops use it so orders appear automatically. If you connect one, you're representing that you have the right to do so for your business's account with that provider. Anything about payments, refunds, or your point-of-sale operation stays entirely between you and your provider — Square (Block, Inc.) or Clover (Clover Network, LLC) — under your own agreement with them. Pickup Signal only reads order, item, and merchant-profile information; we never request the ability to process payments or view financial details through that connection.
Connecting happens on your provider's own sign-in page — your Square or Clover password never reaches Pickup Signal; the provider issues us a limited access token instead. You can disconnect at any time from your dashboard, and disconnecting deletes that token from our servers immediately — nothing new arrives from your account. For Square, disconnecting also revokes the token with Square. For Clover, fully revoking Pickup Signal's authorization on Clover's side happens when you uninstall the app from your Clover account. Menu items already imported into your shop settings and orders already on your board remain part of your shop's own data, handled as described in our Privacy Policy, and your staff can keep running the queue by entering orders directly. You can also revoke Pickup Signal from your own Square or Clover dashboard; our access ends the same way, and your Pickup Signal dashboard will show that the connection needs reconnecting. Reconnecting later, either way, is the same one-step Connect flow.
6. Your customers' information on the board
Your board can show a customer's first name, last initial, order number, and drink items to anyone who can see the screen — that's the point of the product. You're responsible for:
- having the right, under your own business practices and applicable law, to display that information publicly at your location;
- choosing a board style that fits your comfort level — a number-only board is available if you'd rather not show any customer name at all;
- your own relationship with your customers, including anything you tell them (or don't) about how their pickup information is shown.
Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what we store on your behalf and for how long. We act on your instructions, as the operator of your account, for that data.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Pickup Signal for anything unlawful, or in a way that infringes someone else's rights;
- attempt to access another shop's account, board, or data;
- interfere with or disrupt the service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without our permission;
- resell or provide the service to others as your own product;
- misrepresent your affiliation with Pickup Signal, Square, Clover, or Stripe.
8. Service availability
We build Pickup Signal to recover on its own from power cuts, reboots, and dropped connections, and we monitor the production service. That said, we do not currently offer a service level agreement or an uptime guarantee. The service is provided on an "as available" basis, and we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
9. Intellectual property
Pickup Signal and its software, design, and branding are ours. You keep all rights to your own shop name, logo, and content. Using Pickup Signal gives you a limited right to use the service for your own business while your subscription is active — nothing more.
10. Termination
You can cancel anytime. Your board turns off, there's no export to chase, and your Square or Clover account itself is untouched. Canceling does not automatically delete your account data — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that means today and what we intend to build.
We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms, for non-payment beyond the pause described above, or for unlawful use of the service.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
Pickup Signal is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pickup Signal will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold Pickup Signal harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your display of customer information in violation of applicable law.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and both you and Pickup Signal consent to personal jurisdiction there.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the product changes. We'll update the date at the top when we do. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the update.
16. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Pickup Signal about the service. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not assign your account without our consent; we may assign these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business.
