When each one is the right call.
You want a free tier or the lowest annual rate. OrderReady posts 10 numbers a day free, and $199.99 a year undercuts any monthly plan. For a counter that already calls numbers off receipts and doesn't mind typing them, it digitizes exactly that habit.
You don't want the board to be another thing staff maintain. Eligible orders from the connected Square location can appear with the customer's name and items; staff can add exceptions manually. The one tap staff make (Ready) is work they were doing anyway. At the same $19.99 a month, the difference isn't price; it's who does the typing.

Is Pickup Signal manual like a number board?
Only if you want it to be. Eligible orders from the connected Square location can appear with names and items. Without a connected register, or for an exception, staff add the order manually.
Does Pickup Signal work without Square?
Yes. The staff page works with any register: type a name, tap Add, done in a couple of seconds. Square removes even that step for orders it knows about.
What does OrderReady cost?
As published on orderready.app on July 28, 2026: $19.99 monthly or $199.99 yearly, with a free tier limited to posting 10 order numbers per day. Verify on their site.
Why names instead of numbers?
Many made-to-order counters already put a name on the cup, bag, or ticket. A name on the board ends the "is this mine?" shuffle at pickup, while Pickup Signal can show an order number too for shops that want both.
